Keep Your Carpets & Upholstery Looking Great Even With Pets
There is no denying the presence that pets have in our lives. They quickly became part of our families; we wouldn’t trade them for anything. However, they can leave a mess on our carpets, and pet odor can also be trapped in the carpeting or upholstery fibers. This is a very serious problem for your health due to the bacteria that may breed there.
It is very important that you completely remove pet stains right away.
If you don’t, it will quickly become a common place for your pet to use as a bathroom repeatedly. After a couple of times, it will be hard to get it out, and it will soak through the padding on the bottom of the floors, your furniture, and mattresses in your home.
Don’t assume you have handled the problem on your own. Pet urine can penetrate your carpets fast and deeply. This isn’t a surface stain but one that gets into the fibers and the carpet’s backing. The fact that there are many layers that the urine affects is why those smells linger, and bacteria can develop.
You can count on Best Service’s expertise and know-how to remove odors. We have many tools and products that can help with pet odor. For example, enzymes are a natural way to deal effectively with many pet-related problems. It is important to attack the problem immediately. If you wait too long, some odors can not be removed; the damaged area of the carpet can be replaced with a piece of spare carpeting. If carpet replacement is necessary, then replacement of carpet padding may also be necessary. Best Services, Inc. can repair damaged carpet areas without replacing the entire carpet. We do this by replacing just the damaged section with a piece of carpet from a remnant or inconspicuous area such as a closet.
Frequently Asked Pet Odor Questions
Can you remove pet urine stains on the carpet and upholstery? We have a success rate of about 80-90%. However, the success depends largely on how long the stain has been in the fiber. Pet urine can cause permanent damage to textiles as well as create an unhealthy indoor living environment if not removed promptly. It is neutral when urine is first deposited onto a carpet or fabric. This means it is easier to remove when it is fresh. Once the urine is allowed to dry, it turns alkaline (thus the ammonia odor) and becomes more difficult to remove. If left for months, depending on the fiber type, it could permanently change the dye structure of the fabric and cause the fiber to deteriorate. To prevent permanent staining, clean urine deposits immediately.
What can be done about urine odor? We normally use enzymes or a professional-grade deodorizer to treat urine. The enzymes actually eat up urine bacteria. Urine is one stain we cannot have any guarantees on. The stains could be permanent, although we usually have a very good chance of removal.
What to do if you have a severe urine odor? If the odor is severe, the padding beneath the carpet may need to be replaced and the subfloor treated. We also treat the face fibers with enzymes, allow them time to dwell, and then extract the enzymes. If the urine covers over half of the carpet, replacing the room with carpeting may be more cost-effective. We normally only recommend this procedure if the pet is no longer in the home.
Is vomit removable from carpeting? Yes, normally. However, the chances are reduced if an improper spot removal solution has been applied to the stain before our arrival. Also, some cat food has a red dye that permanently stains some nylon carpets. This dye is similar to the kool-aid type of dye.
Do you have a 100% Guarantee on Pet Odors? Unfortunately, there is no way to guarantee odors of any type completely. The reason is that the odor may not only be in the carpet. It may be under the padding on the cement or wood beneath the carpet. It may also be on the baseboards, drapes, walls, etc. Furthermore, one cleaning may not be sufficient to handle a severe urine odor. Sometimes return trips are necessary.
